In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Former President Trump expressed his views on the Supreme Court’s recent unanimous ruling as “both unifying and inspirational,” highlighting the significance of the high court’s upcoming decision on presidential immunity.
The Supreme Court unanimously supported the 2024 GOP frontrunner in his challenge against Colorado’s move to remove him from the 2024 primary ballot.
The high court has sided with Trump’s arguments in the case, affecting the status of removal efforts in other states for the likely GOP nominee.
For the first time, the court examined the interpretation and scope of Article 3 of the 14th Amendment, which prohibits former officeholders who participated in insurrection from being re-elected to public office. Legal actions have been taken to prevent Trump from appearing on the 2024 ballot in more than 30 states.
This victory is a significant achievement for America. Extremely crucial!” In an exclusive interview Monday morning, Trump spoke with Fox News Digital.
“It is crucial for our country that they make a decision soon regarding immunity for a president. Without it, the presidency would become merely a ceremonial role, which is not in line with the founders’ vision,” Trump stated in an interview with Fox News Digital. “It is essential for a president to have complete and total immunity in order to properly and effectively function.”
He mentioned that our country would face significant danger.
Last week, the Supreme Court decided to review Trump’s potential immunity from prosecution in special counsel Jack Smith’s election interference case.
The justices have expedited the appeal process and are set to hear oral arguments starting on April 22, with a decision on the case anticipated by late June.
The trial related to Trump and Smith’s investigation has been delayed until the issue is resolved.
This decision will also have an effect on Smith’s case involving classified records against the president. The trial has not been scheduled yet.
Regarding Monday’s decision, Trump hailed it as a significant victory for America.
“Today’s decision, especially the fact that it was unanimous, 9-0, is both unifying and inspirational for the people of the United States of America,” he told a news outlet.
The Supreme Court made a unanimous decision stating that states have the authority to disqualify individuals from holding or seeking state office.
“States do not have the authority under the Constitution to implement Section 3 in relation to federal positions, particularly the Presidency,” stated the Supreme Court.
