The NYPD is preparing to revoke Donald Trump’s concealed carry permit in response to the numerous felony convictions that were rendered by the jury last week.
CNN reported that the permit was suspended on April 1, 2023, as a result of Trump’s indictment on a variety of charges. The NYPD will now proceed beyond mere suspension and revoke the permit in its entirety.
According to the New York Times, individuals who have been convicted of a felony are prohibited from possessing a firearm under both federal and state law in Florida and New York.
The NYPD is currently conducting an investigation into the matter, and it is expected that Trump’s permit will be revoked upon its conclusion. Nevertheless, Trump “possesses the authority to submit a challenge to the relocation.”
Trump is permitted to possess three specific handguns, two of which were surrendered to the NYPD on March 31, 2023. According to a senior law enforcement official, the third one was “lawfully relocated to Florida.”
Last week, CBS News reported that Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts. Since the convictions, his poll numbers and campaign contributions have both increased.
